Although a great majority of what I did was classified a general overview of my job included:


1.) The operation and managment of communications equipment: Operating radio receivers, recording equipment, typewriters, keyboards, computer consoles, and related equipment. Tuning receivers to prescribed frequencies, performing frequency search missions, or both, over specified portions of radio spectrums to locate and monitor stations and frequency use. Monitored and records communications, adding appropriate comments to assist in transcription and analysis.


2.)The transcribing and processing communications: Transcribed, translated, analyzed and reported on assigned communications. Translated spoken or written material from my target language (Russian) into English. Utilized word aids and references. Learned how to recognize essential elements of information for reporting activity. Assisted analysts in identifying, analyzing, and reporting activities.


3.) The maintaining of technical aids, logs, and records: Compiled and maintained operation records and statistics. Ensured logs, forms, and correspondence are properly completed, annotated, and distributed. Monitored and maintained handbooks, working aids, and analytical references to ensure applicability and currency as well as reviewed, updated, and compiled data for operational use.


The main key to success in my former field (and a mandatory one at that) was knowledge- not only of the Russian language but also radio communications operations theory; communications techniques; operation of acquisition, recording, and processing equipment; communications networks; formats, terminology, and theory of traffic analysis; organization of designated military forces; procedures for processing and distributing intelligence data; and methods for handling, distributing, and safeguarding military information.

Sep 2007 to Feb 2008 - Airman Leadership Program with the position of Squad Leader. Airmen leaders are selected from those with the grade of Airman First Class and who have a minimum 80 percent grade average or, if member has no grade average, be progressing satisfactorily. The assistant flight chief or higher approves candidates to become Airman leaders after a review of their student records and personal interview. In making selections, the assistant flight chief considers the following: disciplinary infractions, Basic Military Training (BMT)report card, instructor recommendations, and past leadership experience. Those selected for the position must study from the Airman Leader Guide (ALG) and succesfully complete the Airman Leadership Course (ALS) in which they are instructed in the supervisory and communicator aspects of leadership as well instruction concerning various Air Force rules and regulations.

Was responsible for all Airmen assigned to a dormitory bay and/or element and the marching of assigned students to and from class. Also assisted in ensuring the dormitories were maintained and up to military and safety standards. Ensured the safety of assigned personel during Natural disasters or terrorist drills.


Sep 2006 to Nov 2007 - Chaplain Advocacy Program. Volunteer organization that looked after the general moral of Air Force members in training status, volunteered for community and basewide events and recruited other trainee personnel to assist and volunteer in local and basewide events. Helped in suicide prevention campaigns and maintained base chapels and ran a base unique institution that provided free food and entertainment events for all trainee personnel.

Mar 2007 to Mar 2007 - Big Sur International Marathon. The Big Sur International Marathon is a non-profit organization that serves the community by providing a world-class marathon and related fun events that raise money to benefit local charities,while promoting health and fitness.

This was my first experience with a large scale non-profit organization and it was amazing to be a part of something that had a real and immediate impact on the local
community. I learned that you can bring together a diverse
collection of people, unite them and succeed at helping an array of local
charities.

Jul 2007 to Jul 2007 - SPCA for Monterey County. The SPCA for Monterey County\'s mission is \"to assure compassionate and humane treatment of all animals in our community.\"
The organization host an annual event called the \"Wag N\' Walk\" in which locals from the costal community sign up and donate to walk their dogs along the
penninsula. It was a great even in which I helped to set up the main center and provide food to humans and animals alike. It was a light hearted event in which I learned that my \"community\" is anywhere I am even though I may be
thousands of miles from my \"home\".

Jul 2006 to Sep 2009 - United Blood Services. Regualr donor. Learned the importance of how blood can be used to save my fellow wingmen, soldiers and sailor abroad and those who survived disasters like Hurricane Katrina on the US Gulf Coast.
